We want a visit to Lakeshore Animal Clinic to feel as comfortable as possible for both pets and their people. Our clinic in Kelowna’s Lower Mission has a little history, a lot of personality, and spaces designed to make veterinary visits easier for everyone – wether they arrive on two legs or four.
A Little History Comes With the Building
Our building may not be the newest kid on the block — but that’s part of its charm. Built specifically as a veterinary clinic, this building has always been a place where Kelowna’s pets come for care. Since Lakeshore Animal Clinic opened in 1969, these walls have welcomed generations of puppies, kittens and much-loved family pets through our doors.
Over the years, the clinic has seen its share of additions, renovations and changes as veterinary medicine — and Kelowna — have grown around it. But the heart and bones of the building remain strong, and we love the history that comes with them.
While our building has a little history, our veterinary medicine doesn’t. Behind these well-seasoned walls you’ll find modern diagnostics, digital X-rays, an in-house laboratory and a team committed to keeping up with advances in veterinary care.
We like to think of ourselves as less “old” and more “well-seasoned.”
Cats Have Their Own Space
We know many cats find a trip to the vet stressful enough without coming nose-to-nose with a curious dog. That’s why our feline patients have their own entrance, separate lobby and dedicated cat-only exam room.
Keeping cats in their own quieter space helps reduce some of the sights, sounds and smells that can make a veterinary visit more stressful — and gives them a place that’s truly their own from the moment they arrive.
Room for Dogs — and Their People
Our canine patients have an extra-large lobby area, two dedicated exam rooms, including one large room with a comfy couch and plenty of space for the whole family.
Whether you’re bringing in a tiny puppy, a big dog who appreciates a little extra room, or several family members who all want to be part of the appointment, we want everyone to feel at home.
Meet Some of Our Most Popular Residents
Not everyone who calls Lakeshore home has fur! Our beautiful saltwater aquarium has become a bit of a clinic celebrity over the years — and it’s also a labour of love for Dr. Wilson and his son, Owen, who share a passion for maintaining this little underwater world.
The tank is full of life and colour, with its own versions of Nemo and Dory, several varieties of tangs, a beautiful Mandarin fish, colourful corals and plenty of other fascinating residents. And then there’s one inhabitant who’s a little harder to miss — our eel, who stretches an impressive three feet long!
The aquarium has become a favourite with clients of all ages. It’s a welcome distraction for nervous pet owners, endlessly entertaining for kids, and there’s almost always something new to discover if you take a closer look.
So while you’re here, be sure to stop and say hello. The fish may not have an appointment, but they’re very much part of the Lakeshore family.
